Our story
About HomePlusDeals.Com
An independent home improvement blog and deals guide, built for people planning a real project: room-by-room guides, honest budgets, and discounts we have actually checked. No paid placements, ever.
Why HomePlusDeals.Com exists
Search for advice on almost any home project and you tend to land in one of two places: a bottomless spec sheet — forty products, twenty columns, not a single opinion — or a sales pitch dressed up as a review, written by someone who never opened the box.
Neither is much use when you are standing in a half-stripped room on a Saturday morning, holding a $4,000 quote and no real idea whether that is fair or a stitch-up.
So we built the thing we wanted to read. Honest, practical guidance written the way you would explain a project to a friend: what it costs, what it is like to live with, where the traps are, and whether it is genuinely worth buying.
What we cover
Everything on HomePlusDeals.Com is organized room by room rather than by product category, because that is how real projects happen. Nobody renovates a category. They renovate a bathroom.
There are eight of them across the site:
- Kitchen — layouts, cabinetry, worktops, and the costs nobody warns you about.
- Bathroom — small-room planning, tiling, ventilation, waterproofing.
- Interiors & Decor — lighting, storage, and making a room feel finished.
- Outdoor & Garden — decking, patios, borders, and garden storage.
- DIY & Tools — what to buy, what to hire, what to leave to a pro.
- Smart Home — the kit that earns its place, and the kit that doesn't.
- Flooring — engineered wood, LVT, tile and carpet, honestly compared.
- Painting — prep, products, and finishes that survive real life.
Alongside the guides we publish a seasonal upkeep checklist for each month — "July in your home", and so on. Small jobs, done at the right time, that stop cheap problems becoming expensive ones.
How we work
Every guide on the site follows the same three steps.
- Plan it properly. Start with a room guide and a realistic budget. We break down what a job actually costs and where the traps are.
- Compare with confidence. Independent buying guides and honest comparisons, so you buy once and buy right.
- Build it & save. Clear step-by-step tutorials, plus genuine deals on the exact gear we recommend.
It sounds obvious. It is also the reverse of how most renovations go — buy first, plan second, pay for the difference.
What a project actually costs
We show every room in three budget bands — Refresh, Mid-range and Full remodel — because the same room can be three completely different jobs.
| Room | Refresh | Full remodel |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen | $500–$2.5k | $25k–$60k+ |
| Bathroom | $300–$1.5k | $15k–$35k+ |
The gap between those two columns is where most of our advice lives. Painting existing units instead of replacing them saves roughly 70% — and in plenty of homes it is the right call, not just the cheap one. Our kitchen guides walk through when that is true, and when it really isn't.
How HomePlusDeals.Com stays honest
- No paid placements. Nobody can buy a recommendation, a rating, or a place on a list.
- Written by renovators. The advice comes from people who have done the job and tested the gear.
- We track, you relax. We watch prices year-round and only flag a discount when it is genuinely below its usual floor.
- No fake RRPs. If a "was" price was never really charged, it never makes our list.
- Timing matters. Tools crash in spring, appliances in autumn. Sometimes the best advice is to wait for the right season.

Where to start
If you have a project in mind, start with the room: browse all eight categories and find the guide that matches. If you would rather just read, the blog is where the newest guides, comparisons and checklists land first.
And if something is missing — a room we haven't covered, a number that doesn't match your quote, a deal that looks too good to be true — tell us, or email hello@homesplusdeals.com. Reader questions shape more of what we publish than anything else.
Smarter homes, better deals. Build a home you love — for less.
